Three Essay Topics

My first topic I have in mind is about a student at my school who comitted suicide. It was at the end of my senior year during our morning announcements our principal told us a freshman had died. They showed his picture on the screen and then I had realized who he was. I had seen him many times in the hallway walking very fast. I had never actually talked to him but I always wondered why he was walking so fast or where he was going. Later after his funeral I found out that many of the students in my grade had been picking on him all year. They made fun of him for his long hair and the clothes he wore. When I found out how people had been treating him it made me so mad that no one had said anything or even tried to help him out What made me more mad was that I didnt know all this was going on. This was an event in my life that changed the way I look at people and treat them, it has made me a better person. It was probably one of the biggest life lessons I have learned and changed me as a person.
My second topic is about swimming. I have been swimming since I was nine. It has played a huge part in my life. I wouldnt say it has changed me as a person but it has really made who I am today. Most of my closest friends I have met through swimming. It has taught me dedication and what hard work is. It's something I love and put a lot of time in to.
My third choice is getting my first job. My first interview was one of the scariest days of my life. I had no idea what to expect. I had nothing to worry about though because I ended up getting the job as a lifeguard at a fitness club near my house. I was so excited to actually start "working". That feeling only lasted about a month. I soon realized that all that money I had just recieved can disappear in a heartbeat. My mom works three jobs for the two of us, and it made me think that everytime I want a new pair of jeans or shirt that thats her money she had just worked hard for and I'm taking it away. I think getting a job made me more mature. I now think about what I'm going to buy and if I actually need it. It also made me more responsible. I had to remember to go to my shifts even if I didnt want to go stand outside in the hot weather and watch a bunch of little kids play in a pool.
